10/22/2001 Entry: "10/22 Evening"

Well I am still smoke-free :). I think I've kicked the habit this time, though I do know my cravings will be with me for many months. I hope I can fight them this time. I am feeling more optimistic though.

Shawn and I had kind of a busy weekend. We had plans to go out to eat both Friday and Saturday nights and then went to a Packer Game all day yesterday. We played Dirty Clubs for a couple hours before the game. I can see where that might get addicting and expensive! We each pay $1 per hand and then have to pay a certain amount for every chip we are left with (red ones only). It's a lot of fun though. I never thought I'd be looking forward to playing cards. Tonight I'm going to watch Shawn bowl and meet up with my friends, hopefully. Shawn and his bowling team usually stay afterwards and play cards so I might play also hehe.

Have you tried something for the cravings? Like a patch or that gum? Does it really work?

Beatriz has spoken @ 10/23/2001 08:58 AM CST

Thanks Tammy!!

Beatriz, I did try the patch for the last 2 times I quit and it really gives me nightmares. Plus it's still putting nicotine into my system so I didn't like that idea. At this point the cravings are just in my head. :)

Congratulations, Leah! It's hard to quit, but in the long run you are going to be soooo much better off! (as an ex-smoker I know this for a fact)

Hope being a non-smoker is still going ok. I tried patches before too but just ended up smoking while wearing the patches - was high as a kite!!!

Get going on the " reward quit smoking method " before you backslide! Liked your blog!
