I had a wonderful Christmas. Shawn and I got some really nice gifts and things we needed for our house. We really had a good time visiting the family and playing games and stuff.

The next few days are still going to be very busy for me but in a good way. Tonight Shawn and I are going out for Mexican food to one of my favorite restaurants. This is our "alone" time together this week. Then Friday night we have a Christmas party to go to which should be a lot of fun. Saturday we'll be going out for steak since we won't be on New Year's Eve, Sunday we have a Packer party, and then Monday we are getting together with friends for board games and to celebrate New Year's Eve. So I'll have lots of fun this weekend!

I don't have too much to write about so I'll write more later.

I got my Christmas shopping done. All I have left is to wrap 2 presents. I really love buying gifts for some people....those who I know will like what I've picked out. It's so much fun! Tomorrow I work all day and then we are celebrating Christmas with my mom and brothers in the evening. Then the next day I go to my Grandma's for lunch and then to Shawn's mom's for supper. It should be a busy time. I'm always glad when the holidays are over. It's usually a very emotional time for me, but this year I've been really trying to get into the Christmas spirit and create some good memories.

I am smoking again. I can't recall if I mentioned that already or not. I did super for the first month and then all of a sudden I was smoking again. I'm not even sure how it happened. I'm not even going to attempt to quit again for a long time as my self esteem cannot take another failure. I will quit some day, most likely when I get pregnant, if Shawn and I have children.

I have pretty much decided on my schooling. I am going to study to become a Certified Coding Specialist. I am going to take long distance courses and complete the work on my own. I will not be earning an actual degree, but I will become knowledgable enough that I should be able to take the National exam to become certified. My schooling can take anywhere from 9-24 months to complete. I am very impressed with this school and looking forward to the challenge of studying. And what a challenge this will be! I have researched the Coding Specialist profession, and it appears I will need to know medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and also how to read doctor's notes in patient charts to determing their primary and secondary diagnoses etc. so I know what codes to use. It seems like an awful lot of huge words to use and very complicated as there are so many laws to follow. This type of work will always require continuing ed also.

I really think this is for me. I am up for this challenge. I read that a person who is interested in this career must be someone who is detail oriented, analytical, likes to investigate, and loves to read. Well this is me in a nutshell. I really think this career would be the most challenging and stimulating for my mind. I really need this. Plus the pay can equal that of a computer programmer once I gain some exerperience. Then to top it off the hospital in my area hires the coders to work out of their own homes. How ideal that would be!

Meanwhile I am saving up my downpayment so I can send for my books. I'm hoping to start some time in January. I love the long distance learning aspect so I can continue to work and study in my own time.

Not much else has been going on. I'm still fighting the blahs but have started exercising again in hopes this will help. I know it helped before.

We have almost all of our Christmas shopping done. I plan to wrap some or all of the presents today. I cannot believe how fast Christmas came! It seemed I had tons of time to shop and decorate before my vacation and now all of a sudden it's a mad rush to get it all done. I'm fortunate though in that I don't have very many people to buy for. Plus I didn't do any baking this year. I knew if I did, Shawn and I would pork out even more than we have the past year.

I am still researching my schooling options. Now I am looking into becoming a Certified Coding Specialist. The only problem is the college in this area does not offer this program so I would need to drive about 45 mins. each way. That is not an option for me as I hate to drive. So I am searching for an online degree or options. I did find 1 school I am interested in but I'm waiting for information. I've been researching this career extensively on the web and think this might be right up my alley. It's extremely challenging and always changing. I really think this job might be it, but we'll see. I am really going to research all my options before making that final decision. I do not want to make the same mistake I made the last time I went to school, going for the wrong thing.

I have so much more I want to say, but I don't feel like typing right now. I'll write more later.

I'm home. I had an okay time. When I say okay, I mean just okay. It could have been better. It's not anyone's fault though. It was just not as much fun I thought it would be driving every day and unloading the van, unpacking, and then packing up again the next day. It rained most of the way to Daytona, so that didn't help. The longest we stayed in one hotel was 2 days, and that was in Daytona. I had a really nice time there. I spent some time walking in the ocean and some shopping. Then Shawn and I found a lighthouse that we walked all the way up to. Then Monday afternoon we drove to Jacksonville (got lost trying to find our hotel) so by the time we checked in I barely had time for a shower before we had to leave for the Packer Game. The Packer game itself was wonderful!! What a game!! I guess the main reason I can't say I had a great time is I didn't get to relax. We were constantly on the move or doing something. I really wanted to spend a day or two lying around a pool and catching some sun, but that didn't happen. Next vacation I'll be flying and staying in only 1 hotel.

Shawn did get me out golfing for the first time in my life. By the 2nd hole I was ready to snap my clubs in half! I was so angry as I kept missing the ball. Finally, I got so ticked that I just went up to the ball and swung my club. Lo and behold, I hit the dang thing and fairly far too! So that's how I finished the game. I actually did okay and started to enjoy golf once I could actually hit the ball. I did keep score as I wanted a record of my first attempt. My score was 74. I'm not sure how awful that is but I'm proud that I finished the game anyway.

Yesterday Shawn and I put up our Christmas tree. It's so beautiful! I love sitting here with the lights on and just watching the tree. It's so relaxing.

I am still trying to decide what to major in for college. Now I'm thinking of going for Accounting instead of Computer Programmer. The main reason is I had some accounting classes in the past and really enjoyed them. Plus I'm the type of person who enjoys putsy and detailed work which most would consider boring. I am going to make an appointment with a counselor to see if I can take some interest survey tests or something to see what I'd be good at. I do recall years ago that Accounting was something I should try. If I'm totall honest with myself, I'd realize the main reason I would go for Computer Programmer is because of the money. I don't really know anything about what the courses would entail so I'm not sure if I'd like that or not. At least I am familiar with what Accounting is. Though I would want to become a C.P.A. which I know would require further schooling or something. I need to do some research to see what I can make as an Accountant. Also, I would love to do taxes so I could specialize in that or even have my own business one day. But these are all just thoughts. I'm under somewhat of a time crunch though so I really need to make some decisions. Meanwhile, I can always take my general courses. I am only going to be attending part-time anyway as I need to continue working. I should know more by the end of this week.
