01/13/2002 Entry: "1/13/02 My Engagement Details"

Thanks so much everyone for the well wishes. I finally have a minute to describe how Shawn proposed. He had purchased an upright freezer from work this past week, which he claimed he needed help with. So on Friday after I got home from work, he asked me to come down into the basement to help with the final wiring. So there I stood next to the freezer, wondering what I could possibly do to help. He told me to just open the door and I'd know what to do.

So I opened the door, expecting to see wires hanging out, and instead all I saw were a bunch of balloons and flowers!! I didn't even know what to think. Then I noticed the huge sign on the door which asked me to marry him. I said yes right away, and we kissed. He sure surprised me! I have been waiting for quite awhile now for this proposal. He said he wanted to do something completely different.

So I ended up with a dozen red roses, a bunch of tulips, a bunch of daisies, and a very nice plant. Then he got me this cute bear and this small ceramic vase that says Love, which is where he had placed the ring.

You can view some pics of the things I got if you want. (Keep in mind this is my basement LOL) You'll also notice I posted a pic of myself. I normally would not have done this, but I wanted to show off my flowers. The pic really shows the weight that I'll need to lose before the wedding.

Shawn is much more sentimental than I am. He was getting all teary eyed and had to give me this long and loving talk about how much he loves me and wanted to surprise me etc. It's heaven.

We are going to have a big wedding. I originally wanted to elope, but it's very important to Shawn that he has a traditional church wedding, so I agreed. I already have the reception hall booked and just need to double check with the minister before I can set the official date. I'll have to write more details later.

This week is so busy for me. I either have to work every day or have appointments, so I won't be writing here again until the end of the week.

Oh my gosh Leah how cute. You are right it was very unique and very cute. I am just grinning from ear to ear for you. I am soooooo happy for you and Shawn.

OHHH! I am so happy for you! I don't know how you or he waited so long! Keith and I got my ring and I was about to kill him when he hadn't asked me a week later!

I really wanted to elope to, but we aren't going to. But we aren't going traditional either :)

congratulations and the wedding proposal was very unique. it's so romantic. it brings back great memories!
